On November 20, 2024, Ann Evans disappeared while her Holland America Line cruise ship, Rotterdam, was docked in Philipsburg, St. Maarten. The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) issued a missing person alert on November 26, and authorities on both the Dutch and French sides of the island are involved in the search.

The Rotterdam was on a 12-day Caribbean voyage, having departed from Fort Lauderdale on November 16. The ship had made stops in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Tobago, Barbados, and Puerto Rico before St. Maarten. Holland America Line has stated that they are working closely with local authorities to locate Evans.
