Yosemite National Park Reopens Key Areas for Summer Season

Yosemite National Park is preparing for the influx of summer visitors by reopening seasonal access points and managing entry through reservations. Glacier Point Road, closed since November 11, will reopen on May 10 at 8 a.m., giving visitors access to Glacier Point, known for its panoramic views. The 16-mile road was recently repaved and upgraded, enhancing the visitor experience.

Also reopening on May 10 is the Mariposa Grove shuttle service, providing access to the park's giant sequoia trees, some of which are up to 285 feet tall and 2,000 years old. The grove offers a unique opportunity to witness these ancient giants up close.

To mitigate crowding during peak season, Yosemite requires reservations for entry between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on select dates. This system aims to distribute visitation and reduce congestion within the park. Visitors with overnight reservations inside the park are exempt from this requirement.
