Poppa's House Canceled by CBS After One Season

CBS decided not to renew 'Poppa's House' for a second season, marking the end of its run after a single season. The show, which stars Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. as father and son, faced challenges in maintaining viewership compared to other CBS comedies. The network also canceled 'The Summit,' a reality competition series.

'Poppa's House' had been vying for a comedy slot on CBS's 2025-2026 schedule but ultimately lost out to 'DMV.' While the show earned a full-season order with five additional episodes, its ratings remained below those of 'Ghosts,' 'Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage,' and 'The Neighborhood,' all of which were renewed.

To improve its chances, 'Poppa's House' was asked to trim its budget, but the presence of the Wayans duo as top on-screen talent added to the cost. The show joins other CBS dramas like 'FBI: Most Wanted,' 'FBI: International,' and 'S.W.A.T.' in not returning next season. 'The Equalizer' remains the only CBS scripted series still on the bubble.

CBS is introducing two new shows: 'DMV,' a single-camera comedy about DMV employees, and 'Einstein,' a police procedural drama featuring Matthew Gray Gubler as the great-grandson of Albert Einstein.

'The Summit,' hosted by Manu Bennett, involved contestants traversing the New Zealand Alps. Its low viewership contributed to its cancellation.
