Netflix's 'The Future Is Ours' adapts Philip K. Dick's 1956 novel, 'The World Jones Made,' setting it in 2047 amidst ecological collapse and the rise of a South American coalition. The series will focus on preacher Jonas Flores and police officer Hugo Crussi, examining themes of determinism versus free will, echoing Cold War anxieties about surveillance and totalitarianism. The series also ties into a larger Philip K. Dick adaptation trend, spearheaded by Electric Shepherd Productions, ensuring the author's work continues to reach new audiences.

Though the original novel introduced an alien species called the Drifters, Netflix is dropping this storyline to keep the show's narrative grounded on Earth. Despite this change, the adaptation aims to retain the essence of Dick’s original work. It is expected to be an eight-episode Spanish miniseries that brings together a talented team of Latin American actors, creators, and crew members.

The series is expected to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
