The series explores how these women, initially drawn to the promise of inner peace through tantric rituals, gradually became entangled in a web of ideologies and beliefs that ultimately harmed them. Director Rowan Deacon emphasizes a psychological approach, aiming to understand the mechanics of indoctrination rather than sensationalizing the more salacious aspects of the story.

Bivolaru, currently in custody in France, faces serious charges, including human trafficking, kidnapping, and rape. The docuseries follows the women as they work with French authorities to bring him to justice. The Atman federation has stated that it is not responsible for the private lives of its staff and that the allegations remain under investigation.

"Twisted Yoga" is produced by Lightbox, known for its impactful documentaries, in association with Ladywell Films. The series seeks to provide a nuanced understanding of the events and the experiences of those involved.

"Twisted Yoga" premieres on Apple TV+ on March 13, with all three episodes available at once.
