Dewey Actor From ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Turns Down Revival for Harvard

The ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ revival brings back most of the original cast, including Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as Hal, and Jane Kaczmarek as Lois. However, Erik Per Sullivan's absence is notable as he chooses academics over acting. According to Jane Kaczmarek, Per Sullivan is deeply engaged in his studies of Dickens and declined the offer despite the financial incentive. Bryan Cranston mentioned on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast that Per Sullivan expressed he hasn't acted since childhood and is not interested in returning to the screen. The revival's plot involves Malcolm attending Hal and Lois’s 40th-anniversary party. The series introduces new characters, including Malcolm's daughter and girlfriend.

He is currently studying at Harvard and chose to focus on his education instead of returning to acting.

The role has been recast with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.

‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’ will premiere on April 10 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the US, and Disney+ internationally.
