Rain and Cooler Temperatures Forecast for Phoenix Area

The approaching weather system will bring significant changes to Arizona's weather. The Phoenix metro area is expected to experience rain starting as early as this evening, continuing through Wednesday. While not every location will receive the same amount of rainfall, some parts of the Valley could see up to an inch of rain, especially if thunderstorms develop. The National Weather Service notes that widespread flooding is unlikely, as the rain will occur over several days.

In addition to rain, temperatures will be noticeably cooler. Highs will drop to around 71 degrees on Tuesday and then into the mid-60s for the remainder of the week, which is about 10 degrees below average for this time of year. This cooling trend will be a welcome change after an unusually warm start to November.

Up north, the high country is bracing for snow. Snow levels are expected to fall to around 6,500 to 7,500 feet by Wednesday evening, potentially bringing an inch or two of snow to areas like Flagstaff. Higher elevations, such as the White Mountains and San Francisco Peaks, could see 3-8 inches of snow.

A Flood Watch has been issued for northwestern Arizona, including areas around Lake Havasu and Kingman, due to the potential for heavy rainfall. Residents in these areas should monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.

Another storm system is possible next weekend, so residents should stay tuned for further updates.

Rain is expected to begin as early as this evening (Nov. 17) and continue through Wednesday.

Some areas in the Valley could see between 0.5 to 1 inch of rain.

The chance of major flooding is low, but a Flood Watch is in effect for northwestern Arizona.

Highs will be in the low 70s on Tuesday and mid-60s for the rest of the week.
