Metro Detroit Weather Update: Storms and Humidity Return

The week begins with a break from extreme heat, but temperatures will remain warmer than normal, slightly above the average of 81 degrees for this time of year. Tuesday brings a higher chance of storms, particularly between 7 and 11 a.m., with scattered showers possible throughout the afternoon and evening. These storms could bring heavy downpours and gusty winds. The increased humidity will make conditions feel more uncomfortable. By Tuesday night, the storms will move out, and skies will begin to clear. A shift in the wind from the north will bring a temporary break from the humidity, but temperatures will climb back into the mid-80s by the end of the week. Swimming conditions in the Great Lakes pose a risk, with high swim risks along Lake Huron and moderate risks along Lake Michigan. Temperatures will range from the upper 70s to mid-80s in the Lower Peninsula and the upper 60s to low 70s in the Upper Peninsula.

High swim risks are in place for beaches of Cheboygan & Presque Isle counties due to high waves and rip currents. Moderate swim risks are present along other Lake Huron and Lake Michigan beaches.
