New York City and Northeast Weather: Summer-like Temperatures Return, but Smoke Looms

Toward the end of the week, a 'sneaky front' is expected to trim temperatures slightly for Father's Day weekend, but the weather should remain dry, making it suitable for outdoor celebrations. Looking further ahead, another ridge of high pressure may build east for the following week, as the calendar approaches the official start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere on June 20. This would result in more warm weather and, ultimately, spontaneous pool parties.

While it's uncertain how much air quality will be affected at ground level, it's probable that it will be impacted, especially closer to the Canadian border.
