GM found a dozen potentially related alleged crashes and injuries related to this issue. The company has implemented manufacturing improvements around June 1 of last year to fix the crankshafts and connecting rods in production.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive letters starting June 9, 2025, and are advised to take their vehicles to a Cadillac, Chevrolet, or GMC dealership for inspection and necessary repairs or replacements free of charge. Vehicles passing inspection will receive higher viscosity oil, a new oil fill cap, an oil filter replacement, and an update to the owner's manual.
