The ambush at the Prairieland Detention Center involved 10-12 individuals who allegedly lured officers out of the facility before opening fire. According to the criminal complaint, Song was positioned in nearby woods with two rifles, one of which was allegedly fitted with a binary trigger to increase its rate of fire. A white Mercedes-Benz, registered to a relative of Song, was seen near the home of another suspect and at DFW Airport, where Song is believed to have been pictured.
Following the attack, approximately 70 law enforcement officers responded to the scene, leading to the prompt capture of ten suspects. Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy E. Larson stated that Song escaped the scene by hiding overnight but will be relentlessly pursued until he is in custody. The FBI considers Song armed and dangerous and urges the public to contact law enforcement immediately if he is seen.
The arrested suspects, who hail from various cities in Texas, face charges including attempted murder of an officer. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities seeking to determine the full extent of the group's planning and motivations.
