Miami-Dade Schools Reopen for 2025-26 School Year

Miami-Dade County Public Schools is back in session, marking the start of another academic year for tens of thousands of students. The return to school brings familiar challenges such as increased traffic, especially on major routes like the Florida Turnpike and Dolphin Expressway. Several incidents, including a multi-vehicle crash and a car breakdown, caused delays on the first day. The district is also implementing new rules regarding cellphone usage, aligning with a statewide effort to reduce classroom distractions. Elementary, K-8, and middle school students are generally prohibited from using or displaying phones during the school day, while high school students require teacher permission. To support families during this transition, M-DCPS has launched a back-to-school hotline and live chat service, available in English, Spanish, and Haitian-Creole. This initiative aims to address any questions or concerns parents, students, and employees may have as they navigate the new school year.
