Steve Guttenberg Rescues Couple from Wildfire

In January 2025, as wildfires raged in the Palisades area of Los Angeles, Steve Guttenberg received a text about an elderly couple refusing to evacuate their home. Guttenberg, known for his roles in "Police Academy" and "Three Men and a Baby," took immediate action. Finding his own car blocked by abandoned vehicles, he commandeered another car to reach the couple.

Upon arriving, he found the couple watching TV and dismissive of the imminent danger. Guttenberg resorted to breaking into their home through a window. Despite his pleas and warnings, the couple resisted, leading to a physical altercation as Guttenberg carried them to safety so that a fire truck could come by and get them.

Guttenberg's actions reflect a commitment to community, as he stated he would "stand and fight" to help his neighbors. The Palisades fire, along with the Eaton fire, caused significant damage, destroying upwards of 6,800 structures and resulting in billions of dollars in losses. The fires impacted numerous celebrities and residents, underscoring the widespread devastation and the importance of neighborly support during crises.

The couple refused to leave despite the approaching wildfire, and Guttenberg felt it was necessary to save them.

They were initially angry and resisted Guttenberg's efforts, reportedly "hating" him for forcing them to evacuate.
