Arcadia Residents Evacuated After Gas Main Break

On March 2, 2026, an independent contractor in Arcadia, Indiana, struck a large gas main, leading to an immediate evacuation order. The Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency and local authorities responded swiftly, establishing an evacuation zone defined by Olive Street to the west, State Road 19 to the east, 266th Street to the north, and South Rollins Street to the south. The Arcadia Town Hall served as a temporary shelter for those displaced. By late evening, the majority of residents were allowed to return home, with the exception of those residing on the 200 block of E. Howard Ave, where repairs were still ongoing.
