Boil Water Advisory in Effect for Crystal, Golden Valley, and New Hope

The water outage was triggered by a malfunctioning altitude valve within the Golden Valley water tower. The valve closed unexpectedly Saturday night, causing low water pressure and service disruptions across the three cities. While crews have successfully reopened the valve and restored water pressure, the water remains unsafe for consumption without boiling.

The Joint Water Commission issued the boil water advisory as a precautionary measure. Residents can still use tap water for showering, bathing, washing hands, laundry, and cleaning, as long as the water is not ingested.

Once the advisory is lifted, it is recommended that indoor plumbing, including faucets, ice makers, and water fountains, be flushed to ensure no contaminated water remains in the system. Any ice made during the advisory should also be disposed of.

Until the Minnesota Department of Health confirms the water is safe to drink.
