A relocated fire station could cut response times by three to four minutes. The OCTA is evaluating the proposal, noting the transportation center’s importance as a transit hub with nearly 140,000 boardings in 2023.

Boardwalk Safety

The Newport Beach Police Department has prioritized Oceanfront Boardwalk safety, increasing their presence and enforcement. In April and May, they issued 301 citations and made 1,212 educational contacts. Data shows a decline in citations from over 100 in early April to 13 by mid-May, indicating the campaign is working.

Housing Plan Upheld

An Orange County Superior Court judge upheld Newport Beach’s State-mandated housing plan, rejecting lawsuits from community groups.
