Henry Ruggs Transferred to Medium-Security Prison

Henry Ruggs III, formerly a wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, was involved in a fatal car crash in November 2021. Investigations revealed that Ruggs was driving under the influence at 156 mph, resulting in the death of Tina Tintor and her dog. In May 2023, Ruggs pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, leading to a sentence of three to 10 years.

Initially, Ruggs was housed at Casa Grande Transitional Housing, a lower-security facility designed to help inmates reintegrate into society. However, NDOC records now indicate that he has been moved to Northern Nevada Correctional Center, a medium-security facility. While the NDOC has not specified the reason for the transfer, it is suggested that infractions at the lower custody level may have led to this reclassification. This move indicates a potentially stricter environment for Ruggs as he continues to serve his sentence. The Northern Nevada Correctional Center also serves as the primary location for medical services within the Nevada Department of Corrections, with in-patient medical and mental health units.

The Nevada Department of Corrections has not disclosed the exact reason, but it is likely due to infractions committed at the lower-security facility.

Ruggs is serving a three- to 10-year sentence for DUI resulting in the death of Tina Tintor and her dog.

His earliest parole-eligibility date remains Aug. 5, 2026, but the mandatory date for parole-release consideration has changed to Oct. 18, 2027.
